There is anger in the eyes of people of Amethi: Rahul Gandhi
This was his second visit to this Lok Sabha constituency after his defeat. He led a march with party workers to highlight the failure of the government.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who held a rally against the inflation of essential commodities in Amethi, his former constituency in the state of Uttar Pradesh, has launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP and said that the people are extremely angry due to the failure of the current government on all fronts.
51-year-old Congress leader had suffered a stunning loss to BJP leader and actress-turned politician Smriti Irani in the 2019 General Election by a margin of 50,000 votes. Amethi was always supposed to be a Congress stronghold till then.
This was his second visit to this Lok Sabha constituency after his defeat. He led a march with party workers to highlight the failure of the government. Addressing the people of Amethi, Gandhi said that every street of Amethi is the same as what it used to be earlier, however, there is anger in the eyes of people.
He said that people still have space in their hearts like they had earlier and they all are united against injustice.
Rahul Gandhi had joined politics in 2004 and he fought his first election from the Amethi. He won elections from this constituency consecutively three times – 2004, 2009 and 2014. However, the 2019 election went against him when the people of Amethi preferred Irani over him. Thanking his voters and the people of Amethi, Rahul Gandhi said that he learnt politics from the people of Amethi and they are the ones who have shown him the way in politics.
He also criticised the government for propagating the Hindutvawadi agenda in the state and the country.
