The Swiss government announced that fully vaccinated Indians can enter the country without undergoing a COVID test or being quarantined

Persons from countries with a variant of concern, such as India, who have been vaccinated or who have recovered from COVID-19, will be permitted entry without the need for a negative test or quarantine, according to the Swiss government's Federal Council of Public Health, which announced the relaxation of COVID-related restrictions on June 26.

According to the Federal Council, those who have not been vaccinated or recovered must present a negative PCR test or quick antigen test and will be placed in quarantine upon admission. This means that those who have been vaccinated or recovered do not need to provide a negative test when traveling from countries where the Delta form is common (like India or the United Kingdom) and are not subject to quarantine

"The vaccines used in Switzerland are only slightly less effective against the Delta variant and thus still offer a very high level of protection," said the Council.

COVID certificates will also be accepted as supporting documentation for foreign travel and in certain areas of application in Switzerland, according to the Swiss government.

The Swiss Federal Council of Public Health stated in a FAQ: "Since July 1, the federal government has assumed that anybody who requires a COVID certificate has already received one. Only COVID certificates will be accepted as supporting papers for the areas of application in Switzerland after this date. This applies to situations defined by the COVID-19 Special Situation Ordinance, such as events, cinemas, theatres, and restaurants that want to limit entrance to people who have been vaccinated, tested negative, or recovered."

"Alternative supporting documents are still conceivable in overseas travel and the context of contact quarantine," it stated.

According to the Council, children can also be awarded a COVID certificate of testing or recovery, and all family members' certificates can be saved in a single app.

A COVID certificate permits people to resume specific activities and proves that they are either virus-free or highly unlikely to be infected. Everyday situations, such as public transportation, shops, workplaces, and training institutions, where the use of the COVID certificate is not planned in the ordinance, according to the Federal Council's line of action. International passenger transportation, important events, and dancing nightclubs are examples of places where the certificate will be required.

Following a decline in new infections, the Federal Council voted on June 23 to loosen the conditions for entering Switzerland as of Saturday. The quarantine will no longer be necessary for visitors from the Schengen area. Third-country citizens traveling from countries such as the United States, Albania, or Serbia can now enter Switzerland again, according to the Council. Meanwhile, in Switzerland, restrictions on working from home and wearing masks outside will be eased, allowing eateries to seat as many people as they want. COVID-certified large-scale events will be allowed to take place with no constraints on capacity or number of attendees.
