The State Election Commission had postponed the announcement of the election dates. It is being told that just before the announcement of the election dates, the State Election Commission had received the letter from the Central Government through the Lieutenant Governor. It was said in the letter that the central government wants to reunite the three municipal corporations. A bill regarding this will be introduced in Parliament soon, so elections should not be held now.
State Election Commissioner SK Srivastava had said in the press conference that the central government wants to unite the three municipal corporations. He said that the Commission being a constitutional body is not bound to accept this suggestion, but if any information has been received from any party, then it is necessary to consider it.
After the announcement of the MCD election dates, AAP is continuously attacking the central government. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is constantly targeting the government. Recently, party workers took to the streets and demonstrated against the central government. Party leader Durgesh Pathak said that Delhi Municipal Corporation election 2022 is being postponed by intimidating the Election Commission. He said that the Aam Aadmi Party has come out of the struggle.
