2021 is the 50th year of India’s glorious past and the country is celebrating Swarnim Vijay Diwas this year.
“Swarnim Vijay Varsh is being celebrated to mark 50 years of India’s victory in the 1971 war. The aim is to spread the message of unity, nationalism and pride among people in general and Armed Forces in particular, in addition to showing respect to the veterans who participated in the war,” a release issued by the Ministry of Defence, said.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh too joined the Nation in celebrating and remembering the courage, valour and sacrifice of the Armed Forces during the 1971 war.
He called the 1971 war the golden chapter in India’s military history and congratulated people on the occasion of ‘Swarnim Vijay Diwas’ on December 16, 2021.
He tweeted, “On the occasion of ‘Swarnim Vijay Diwas’ we remember the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces during the 1971 war. The 1971 war is the golden chapter in India’s military history. We are proud of our armed forces and their achievements.”
He tweeted various pictures and documents that reflected the historical importance of the 1971 war. One of the photographs was of the Instrument of Surrender signed after the war.
