Suspension of 12 MPs: Did Congress chief not invite Mamata’s party for an opposition meet?
In the latest development, Congress President Sonia Gandhi didn’t invite Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress for a meeting to decide the strategy to force the Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu to scrap the suspension of 12 MPs.
The differences between the Congress Party and Mamata Banerjee seems to be widening after the latter has criticised the leadership of the Congress Party on many public platforms.
In the latest development, Congress President Sonia Gandhi didn’t invite Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress for a meeting to decide the strategy to force the Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu to scrap the suspension of 12 MPs.
According to reports, opposition parties such as CPM's Sitaram Yechury, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, DMK's TR Balu and National Conference head Farooq Abdullah were present at the meeting but no member of TMC was present in the meeting.
Reports say that the absence of TMC leaders are due to the fact that Congress and Mamata are at loggerheads for the past some time. The Opposition Party leaders gathered to chalk out their plan of action for 12 MPs of Rajya Sabha who were suspended over unruly behaviour on the floor of the house.
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee has continued her attack on the Congress Party. In a public rally on December 14, she alleged that Congress is not doing enough to counter the BJP because the two parties are trying to develop some sort of friendship.
“Congress makes big claims that it will fight alone. It fought alone throughout the country and against us too. You still fight against us daily. At least fight against the BJP and then make your claims," she said
With her attack on the Congress Party, their relationships are expected to further deteriorate in the coming days.
