Suryakumar Yadav created history, became the first Indian player to win the ICC T20I Player of the Year Award

India's star batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been selected as the best T20 International Cricketer of the Year by the ICC on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav has had a stellar year with the bat, where he broke several records and set records. Suryakumar Yadav became the second batsman to score 1000 or more runs in a calendar year. He ended the year 2022 as the highest run-scorer. Surya scored 1164 runs at an excellent strike rate of 187.43.

In its statement, the ICC said, 'The winner of the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year had one of the best years for any player in the history of the format. Here we take a look at his standout performance in 2022 and the year ahead. He was an important member of the Indian T20 team, scoring two centuries and nine half-centuries. The ICC also showcased Suryakumar Yadav's best performance of the year.

The ICC said in a statement, 'During the year, Yadav put in many impressive performances. But his best probably came against one of the best white-ball teams in Nottingham, England, where he scored his maiden T20I century. Then Surya scored 117 runs in 55 balls. Suryakumar Yadav hit 68 sixes in the year 2022, which is the most by any batsman in the history of the format.

I played many great innings in the year 2022, but the most special innings was scoring the first century of my career. For any cricketer, scoring his first century is special.
