Supreme Court directed the Paralympic Committee of India to recommend Para Shooter Naresh Kumar as an additional participant in Tokyo Paralympics 2020
The Media spokesman of PCI said, His name was already recommended but denied by the International Paralympic Committee. The matter is pending adjudication in High Court. It was suddenly mentioned in the Supreme Court today. No one from PCI was able to attend the hearing and all the facts were misrepresented by Mr Naresh Kumar. We will bow down by the order of the Supreme Court and recommend his name again.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Paralympic Committee of India to recommend Para Shooter Naresh Kumar as an additional participant in the 50 meter Para Shooting event in Tokyo Paralympics 2020. This has come as a huge relief to 5 times Paralympian and Arjuna Awardee shooter. Paralympics 2020 will start in Tokyo, Japan on August 24, 2021.
Naresh Kumar had approached the apex Court because the selection Committee of Paralympic Committee of India had not selected him. Hearing an urgent petition filed by Naresh Sharma A bench comprising Justice AM Khanwilkar, BR Gavai and Krishna Murari Passed the direction today.
Earlier, Naresh Sharma had approached The Delhi High Court challenging his exclusion from the Indian shooting team for Paralympics 2020. The High Court did not pass immediate orders for his inclusion in the team. So, Naresh approached the Supreme Court.
According to the media spokesman of PCI, ‘His name was already recommended but denied by the International Paralympic Committee. The matter is pending adjudication in High Court. We will bow down by the order of the Supreme Court and recommend his name again.’
