In Noida, Supertech has moved the Supreme Court and is looking for a stay on the destruction order the court had pronounced for the two disputed 40-story towers at its Emerald Court housing project. It has offered an alternative plan to demolish only one of the two towers and has declared that they could save various crores from being wasted and also prove to be beneficial for the environment.
The Supreme Court upheld an Allahabad High Court for the destruction of two illegal 40-story towers at the Emerald Court complex and initiated criminal proceedings against the builder.
The bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and MR Shah confirmed the 2014-judgment of the Allahabad High Court in the case involving the twin towers that house 915 flats and shops.
