Suella Braverman, who was able to remain the Home Minister of Britain for 43 days
Braverman, a member of the Conservative Party in Parliament from Fareham in south-east England, had served as Attorney General in the government led by Boris Johnson.
Indian-origin British Home Minister Suella Braverman resigned on Wednesday following a mistake of using her personal e-mail for ministerial communications in London. Braverman was appointed Home Minister 43 days earlier, when British Prime Minister Liz Truss took office at 10 Downing Street.
Earlier, Braverman had a meeting with Prime Minister Truss on Wednesday. Braverman, 42, posted the resignation letter on his Twitter handle. "I made a mistake. I accept the responsibility," she said. "I sent an official document from my personal e-mail to a trusted parliamentary colleague. As you know, the document was a ministerial statement about immigration, which was to be published," Braverman said.
Braverman, a member of the Conservative Party in Parliament from Fareham in south-east England, had served as Attorney General in the government led by Boris Johnson. Braverman, a mother of two, is the daughter of Hindu Tamil mother Uma and Goa-born father Christy Fernandes. His mother immigrated to Britain from Mauritius, while his father immigrated to London from Kenya in the 1960s.
