Sri Lanka's crisis: PM Wickremesinghe said - 'I will not lie to the country, Support us for 2 months, We have petrol for 1 day
Amidst the exponential Economic Crisis in Sri Lanka, Wickremesinghe gave these important points.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa announced the imposition of a night curfew in Sri Lanka, which is facing a severe economic and political crisis. It will be applicable from 8 pm on Monday to 5 am on Tuesday, i.e. for 9 hours. The decision was taken on Monday morning. After this, late in the evening, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressed the country and put forward a picture of the latest situation. Wickremesinghe said- Our country has only one day's petrol left. We are trying to rectify the situation. The Sri Lankan airline, which suffered a loss of $ 45 billion in a year, will now be handed over to the private sector.
He further said, "I don't want to lie to the country. Things are very bad. For the time being, we have big challenges ahead of us. It is a promise that the bad times will pass very soon. Three oil tankers are standing at Colombo Port. We cannot pay in dollars. So petrol and diesel are not available. There is an appeal to the people that they should support me for two months. There are no funds to pay salaries to 14 lakh employees.
