The first match of the three-match T20 series between Team India and Sri Lanka was played at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, Sri Lanka's captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and decided to bowl first. Team India, batting first, scored 199 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 20 overs and gave Sri Lanka a target of 200 runs to win.

Another blow came in the form of Ishaan Kishan. He was dismissed by Dasun Shanaka for 89 runs. Shreyas Iyer 57 and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 3 runs.
