South-West Police arrested burglars who stole over 800 mobile phones in Delhi

On November 23, 2021, an Online E-FIR was registered on the complaint of Shri Ramavtar Sharma, who is a resident of Palam Colony, New Delhi. He complained about a theft of 803 mobile phones, 540 data cables and 50 batteries from his storeroom situated at Rajokari on November 18, 2021.
“In the close supervision of ACP Ajay Vedwal, a team was immediately formed comprising of Sub Inspector Suresh Dhaka, constables Askaran and Sunil led by Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary, who is also the SHO of the police station,” Gaurav Sharma, DCP, South-West District, New Delhi, said.
He added, “The team started collecting details of CCTV cameras installed in the area. Sources were deployed and details of EECO Van of white colour was taken and exercise of verification was started.”
During the exercise, staff of police station Vasant Kunj South traced Eeco Van bearing Reg No DL1LX2136. Owner Rakesh Kumar who had left Delhi after committing the crime was nabbed from Bhopal by mounting electronic Surveillance. He disclosed that he along with accused Utkarsh had committed the theft by using his Eeco Van.
Later, Utkarsh who is a resident of Sitapur was traced and arrested in the present case. Both accused were taken on police remand for five days and recovery in the present case was affected. Accused Vikas has been arrested in the present case and aforesaid recovery has been affected from him.
The investigation team has recovered a total of 430 Data Cables, 117 Stolen Mobiles and one Eeco Van used in the commission of the crime.
Rakesh is a driver by profession and he is also the owner of the Eeco van which was used in crime. He is educated up to 10th class from his native village at Ajamgarh UP. He is a close friend of Utkarsh as both worked in the same factory in Gurugram in past.
Utkarsh is educated up to 9th class and he is a labourer. Utkarsh belongs to Sitapur, UP. Rakesh is the mastermind in the present case. Accused Vikas @ Vikki who is the receiver of stolen items has been arrested in this case. He used to run his mobile phone shop at Jaunapur before lockdown.
