South West District AATS seizes huge cache of illicit liquor smuggled into Delhi

During the Pandemic, the South West District police have maintained a strict vigil on the sale and supply of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of South West Distt.
On January 13, 2022, secret information was received that three persons having illicit liquor would pass in one Mahindra Pickup goods carrier through NH-8, Mahipalpur area.
“After receiving this information, a team of AATS comprising of Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar, Head Constable Hariom, and Constables Nitin, Ravinder Kumar, Akash, Raghmender led by Inspector AATS Rajesh Malik and overall supervision of ACP Operations /South West District was constituted that took a position at an expected place of arrival,” Gaurav Sharma, DCP, South-West District, New Delhi, said.
Meanwhile, one Mahindra Bolero Goods Carrier came that was asked to stop but the driver tried to speed up the vehicle due to fear of being caught. On this, the Mahindra Bolero Goods Carrier was chased by the police team and intercepted after a brief chase.
During the enquiry, the identity of the driver was identified as 39-year-old Arvind, a resident of Khiro District in Rai Bareli UP. He was found involved in 12 cases of theft, MV theft, Robbery and Excise Act previously.
Two helpers 22-year-old Amit and Alok, both residents of Nangli Puna, Near NDPL Office, New Delhi, were also arrested along with Arvind.
“On checking his Mahindra Bolero Goods Carrier, total 90 cartons (4500 Qtrs) of illicit liquor recovered from rear of the Goods carrier. The liquor was having branding of ‘Santra’ & ‘RACE-7’ FOR SALE IN HARYANA ONLY. Accordingly, a case under Delhi Excise Act was registered. Further investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being made to know the source of supply,” Sharma said.
