Sobhita Dhulipala Poses With Naga Chaitanya on Makar Sankranti: 25 years of learning have gone down in a single day the Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai released, giving the industry Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel. Interestingly now, it had a re-release, and is currently running in theatres. Speaking on completing two-and-a-half decades in Bollywood, Ameesha shares, in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, that she looks back at her journey ‘gloriously’ despite encountering some ups and downs. “I have given Bollywood its biggest iconic hits that can never be replaced. What more can an actor want out of a career?"

She claims to be ‘proud’ of the niche she has carved out for herself thanks to no connections in the industry. “For an outsider with no godfather, I think I did tremendously well for myself. I’ve got three franchises to my name – Gadar, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race – that are still continuing to be made. I’ve given some of the biggest hits in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu that have broken and created box office records," remarks the Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage and Humraaz actor.
That she has no qualms about being choosy in an industry where almost every other actress takes on a dozen or more projects. “Do I miss having more quantity of films? No! I would rather be remembered for my iconic films than come on a Friday and be forgotten on a Saturday. I’m also one of the few people who saw two re-releases with Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and the only actor to see the highest footfalls with these two films. No one has been able to break that record," Ameesha states.
Being born into a film family, in her view, does not guarantee success and longevity. “How can I be unhappy? I’ll be ungrateful to god if I was unhappy. Even people who’ve godfathers and marry into film families have terrible flops and are written off. All I want to say is that when you’ve god, you don’t need a godfather. Going forward, there are lots of surprises in store for my audience. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here to stay," she reiterates.

Ameesha described how, after so many years, Hrithik Roshan, her co-star in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, remains still relevant and fitness icons for their fans. When asked what her first impression of him was, she quipped, "How did I get the most handsome guy in the industry?" she shares, “We were family friends and I knew him when we were teenagers. He was a thin, introverted and awkward teenager. He was shy like me. When I came back to Mumbai after my education in Boston and saw him, he had completely transformed!"
She further adds, “It was like this caterpillar had become a butterfly. I looked at him and said, ‘Superstar!’ But he couldn’t digest it and called me biased. We both had changed from gawky teenagers to young people. We became confident and talkative. The shyness had fallen over. And we hit it off from the word go! I used to call him Pierce Brosnan, the Bond! The term ‘Greek God’ was also coined by me and I’m very proud of it. It stuck with him since day one."
