On Tuesday morning, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) held a special ardas (prayer) at all the Gurdwara in Delhi for the success of the protesting farmers.
Committee chairman Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that to accept the demands of the protesting farmers, 'Ardas' were done in all gurdwaras.
He said after joining Ardas at Bangla Sahib Gurdwara that DSGMC condemns those including BJP leaders, who are alleging that the protesting farmers are Khalistani and terrorists.
In response to a question, Sirsa also said that a farmer got to know about the death of his son who was in the army and posted in Kashmir during the protest. "Can such people be terrorists?" He asked.
Thousands of farmers are protesting against the new three agricultural laws, especially in Punjab and Haryana, for the sixth consecutive day on various entry routes of the Delhi border. Farmers fear that these laws will abolish the minimum support price.
According to the government’s claim, these laws will give freedom to the farmers from the middle man. These three laws are -
(a) The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020,
(b) The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and
(c ) The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020.
Farmers are against the three laws as they believe that the government will stop fixing MSPs and they are left at the mercy of big corporate houses.
They are suspicious that these laws have been enacted to favour big corporate houses and for these reasons, they demand the withdrawal of these three laws.
