Shooter Ajum Moudgil Fights Hard To Finish 15thIn Women’s 3P Event
Tejaswini Sawant, making her Olympic debut, placed 33rdwith a score of 1154 and both Anjum and Tejaswini did not qualify for finals
New Delhi: India’s Anjum Moudgil fought hard in the Women’s 50M Rifle 3 Positions event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Shooting competition, finishing 15thwith a score of 1167 in qualifying, falling short of the top-eight finals mark by just four points. Tejaswini Sawant, making her Olympic debut, placed 33rdwith a score of 1154.
Shooting on day eight of the competition at the Asaka Shooting range, Anjum shot 390/400 in the Kneeling position and then 395/400 in the Prone position, to be placed fifth at that stage. She finally shot 382 in the final position, finding it tough to recover from an eight in her first Standing position shot.
Switzerland’s Nina Christen won gold with a finals Olympic record score of 463.9, while Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) athletes Yulia Zykova and Yulia Karimova won silver and bronze respectively. Nina had also won bronze in the 10M Air Rifle.
Sanjeev Rajput and Aishwary Tomar will pose India’s final Shooting challenge at the Games on Monday, August 01, 2021.
