In a shocking accident, the Rescuers mistakenly became the Murders
A heart-wrenching incident came to light in Tamil Nadu's Madurai city on Friday. A sanitation worker was first buried in the pit during cleaning, after which his fellow employees tried to rescue him in a panic. However, it all backfired as the trapped man was beheaded in the process after his head was severed from the trunk.
In fact, Satish alias Veeran of Erode district was accidentally buried under debris during the cleaning of an 11 feet deep pit at Vilangudi at around 3 pm yesterday. After this, fellow employees started digging with JCB instead of calling firefighters or rescue teams to save him. He died in this accident.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the victim. At the same time, the police arrested site engineer Sikander, site supervisor Balu and JCB operator Suresh. A case of death due to negligence has been registered against all of them.
The rescue team immediately reached the spot as soon as the news of the accident was received and the body was pulled out through ropes at around 5.30 pm. Officials said that the pit was less than 2 feet wide and that only one person could enter it at a time.
Regarding this accident, a corporation official said that usually for the safety of the workers, they are lowered into the pit with the help of rope. At present, the body of the laborer has been sent to the government hospital for postmortem.
