On this, RJ Sayema uploaded a video on Twitter, which she captioned, “Out of the two friends, you need to choose one. Which narrative will you choose?”
After the Jahangirpuri Violence on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the entire country went through a communal tension. The segregation on the basis of religion is more promulgated than ever, and from Social Media to News Channels, all seem to be playing a part in promulgating the hatred. On this, RJ Sayema uploaded a video on Twitter, which she captioned, “Out of the two friends, you need to choose one. Which narrative will you choose?”
She starts the video by saying, “Hey, How are you? How has this hatred devoured our nation? We all find ourselves standing in the pool of hatred. But you’ll have to hear this “Sohbet” (narrative), either from your friends, relatives, News Channels, or Whatsapp, but a narrative you must choose. We will have to choose our surroundings. We’ll have to choose one friend.”
She then adds, “We’re all surrounded by two friends. The first one is busy filling poison in our ears through a variety of ways, like Whatsapp, Social Media, or other News Channels. This category of a friend is inculcated in showing you an enemy everywhere.
On the other hand you have a second category of a friend who’s asking you to ditch what the former one says. He says, “No one is your enemy. No one can be your enemy. And even if someone is your enemy, we’ll make them our friend.”
She then differentiates the types of friends around by mentioning, “When you hear the first friend, your blood boils, you are induced with negativity, and you’ll want to shatter everything around you. On the other hand, when you hear the second one, you’ll know, eventually, it all will pass. All the hatred will go away. The second friend is trying to invoke the goodness within you, while the former one is trying to invoke the devil inside of you, by bringing up the past. But who wants to live in the past, nobody does.”
In conclusion, Sayema in the video says, “We need to leave the sohbet of the former friend, only then we’ll find life beautiful, and then we'll do something for us, and eventually for our country., but we need to maintain the distance from the first friend.”
