The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant has reached 8 countries in the last 4 days. These include South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong, Botswana, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and the UK.South Africa informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about the first case on 24 November. WHO has instructed South Asian countries to take special precautions regarding the new variant.

Earlier on Saturday, this new and most dangerous variant of the virus reached Germany and Britain. Germany's Minister of Social Affairs Kai Kloss has given this information on social media. Kloss said that this new variant has been entered in Germany several days ago.He said that mutants of Omicron have been found in the test report of a passenger returning from South Africa. This passenger has been quarantined. On the other hand, Britain's Health Secretary confirmed two cases of Omicron.

Germany has also decided to ban the travel of citizens to and from South Africa. Germany's Health Minister Jens Spahn said on Friday - the new rules will come into effect from Friday night, travel bans can also be imposed on countries around Africa. Despite being vaccinated, citizens of Germany will have to stay in quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the country.
