Rain in Delhi-NCR Brings Relief from Scorching Heat as IMD Warns of Ongoing Heatwave
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a shift in weather conditions over northwest India, with rainfall and thunderstorms likely between April 9 and 11 due to an approaching western disturbance.
Rain in Delhi-NCR: Delhi continues to grapple with scorching heat, with temperatures expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius by April 10.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a shift in weather conditions over northwest India, with rainfall and thunderstorms likely between April 9 and 11 due to an approaching western disturbance.
“Under the influence of Western Disturbance; rainfall along with thunderstorm & lightning, gusty/squally winds likely over Northwest India during 09th-11th April,” the weather agency said in its latest forecast.

Rain In Delhi-NCR: Heatwave Return Not Anticipated This Week.
The weather department does not forecast the return of a heatwave in coming days, with no significant rainfall expected beyond April 12.
Delhi registered a minimum temperature for April in the last three years on Wednesday at 25.6 degrees Celsius. The weather department noted that minimum temperatures had not reached 25°C in either 2024 or 2023. According to IMD data, the highest minimum temperature recorded this year so far is 24°C, compared to 23.6 °c last year.
The IMD said: "Yesterday, warm night conditions were observed only at Palam. Today, they have been recorded at all five synoptic stations."

A similar trend was seen in 2022 when the highest minimum temperature reached 26.2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature is expected to settle at around 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in Delhi-NCR and forecast a partly cloudy sky.
As the heatwave continues to affect many parts of India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for different regions, offering some relief from the scorching temperatures. Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other areas are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms, which will help lower the heat. However, states like Gujarat and Rajasthan will still see high temperatures.
