Protesters Raise Palestinian Flag at Harvard University: During a protest at Harvard University this week, Palestinian flags were placed over the statue of John Harvard, after whom the prestigious US university is named.

Amidst Israel's military campaign in Gaza, the act was seen as a provocative act of support for Palestine.

A group of protesters hoisted the flags over the John Harvard statue on Saturday, normally reserved for the American flag or flags of visiting foreign dignitaries.

According to The Harvard Crimson, chants of "Free, free Palestine" and "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" echoed across the Yard as flags fluttered.

Three students raised Palestinian flags over the iconic statue of John Harvard, where the Stars & Stripes should fly, in a viral video.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. (local time) on Saturday, the incident occurred.

Jonathan L. Swain, a Harvard spokesperson, called the action "a violation of University policy." He said disciplinary action would be taken against those involved.

Despite the flags being removed, protesters voiced their discontent.

The commencement ceremony at Harvard is just around the corner, and protesters are worried about disciplinary measures.

With hundreds of students facing possible repercussions for their protest, the encampment has become a focal point for discontent.

On the school grounds, anti-Israeli students shouted slogans such as "Free, free Palestine," and "We flay for Palestine."

Many college campuses in the US are experiencing similar scenes, such as Columbia University in the Big Apple and other Ivy League universities.

As a result of Hamas' attack on the Jewish state on October 7, protests erupted in US universities against Israel's counteroffensive.

Following protests at Northeastern University, Arizona State University, Indiana University, and Washington University in St. Louis, more than 200 people were handcuffed.

The George Washington University campus in Washington, DC, had dozens of tents set up on Sunday.

John Kirby, White House national security spokesman, says President Joe Biden knows there's a lot of anger, but will leave protest management to the locals.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell called the nationwide protests "a dangerous situation" in an interview on Sunday.

According to NBC News, there is also antisemitism in this country, which is completely unacceptable.
