PM to lay the foundation stone of Rs 36,200 crore Ganga Expressway
This is one of the ambitious projects of the Modi government. The total cost incur on the construction of the Expressway is over Rs 36,200 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of 594 Km long six-lane Ganga Expressway. PM Modi will arrive in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh at around 1 PM on 18 December 2021 for the event.
This is one of the ambitious projects of the Modi government. The total cost incur on the construction of the Expressway is over Rs 36,200 crore. It will start from the Bijauli village in Meerut and extend till near the Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj.
“It will pass through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. Upon completion of work, it will become the longest expressway of Uttar Pradesh, connecting the western and eastern regions of the state,” a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office said.
It added, “A 3.5 Km long airstrip for assisting emergency take-off and landing of Air Force planes will also be constructed on the Expressway in Shahjahanpur. An industrial corridor is also proposed to be built along the Expressway.”
The government claims that the Expressway will also give a boost to various multiple sectors and economic activities that include industrial development, trade, agriculture, tourism etc.
“It will provide a big boost to the socio-economic development of the region. The inspiration behind the Expressway is the vision of the Prime Minister to provide fast-paced connectivity across the country,” the press note said.
Keeping in mind the forthcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP government is on a spree to launch or lay down the foundations of various projects.
