Officials said that now the Doni Polo Airport will help ease connectivity and promote tourism in the state. Its foundation stone was laid by PM Modi in February 2019. Despite the Corona epidemic and other challenges, its construction work was completed in a very short time.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) will visit Arunachal Pradesh on 19 November (Saturday). During this, PM Modi will inaugurate Doni Polo Airport of Itanagar. This is the first greenfield airport, whose foundation was laid by Prime Minister Modi in 2019. This airport has been developed in an area of more than 690 acres. 640 crores have been spent in its construction. With 2300 meter runway, this airport will be able to operate in all weather. Apart from this, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station. Developed at a total cost of over Rs 8450 crore and spread over an area of over 80 kms in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh will become a power surplus state.
The new airport has a runway of 2,300 meters and is suitable for handling large, wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 747. Arunachal Pradesh currently has two airports, one at Pasighat and the other at Tezu. However, since both these airports are far from Itanagar, passengers have to travel 6 to 10 hours to take flights from Dibrugarh or Guwahati in Assam.
