OPS group reaches Supreme Court in AIDMK dispute, hearing will be held next week
The OPS faction sought an urgent hearing of its petition challenging the July 11 order of the Madras High Court, which ruled in favor of the EPS.
The OPS faction has told the Supreme Court that the EPS faction misunderstood the orders of the Supreme Court and the High Court. Party MLAs, MPs are being expelled. Primary members are being expelled. They are changing the structure of the party. There is an urgent need to intervene in this matter.
OPS Group has reached the Supreme Court in the AIDMK controversy. Challenging the order of the Madras High Court, a demand has been made from the Supreme Court for an early hearing. The CJI said that he will hear next week, although he refused to give the date.
The OPS was expelled from the primary membership of the party and the post of treasurer was also lost. The post of interim general secretary was revived and the posts of 'coordinator' and 'joint coordinator' were abolished. The members of Palaniswami's faction have elected him as the single leader of the organisation.
A single bench of the Madras High Court had dismissed the petition filed by Panneerselvam, seeking a ban on the general assembly. He said that the court cannot interfere in the internal affairs of the party. As per law- a general meeting can be held. He ruled that if the rules are violated then the court can be approached.
