One Terrorist Killed, Another Trapped in Ongoing Bandipora Encounter
In a major counter-terror operation on Tuesday (Nov 5) security forces killed one terrorist in the Katsuna forest area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir.

One Terrorist Killed, Another Trapped: In a major counter-terror operation on Tuesday (Nov 5) security forces killed one terrorist in the Katsuna forest area of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorist was affiliated with LeT and was killed in an ongoing encounter that started when security forces tracked the terrorist group after receiving intelligence inputs.

The operation began after a joint team of security forces received a tip off that two armed terrorists suspected to be FTs were trying to cross over into Lolab area of Kupwara. These terrorists were involved in an attack on an army camp along Panhaar Road in Bandipora on Nov 1 before escaping into the forested upper reaches of the district. Since then, security forces have been searching the forest area.
But earlier today forces trapped and engaged the duo in Katsuna area of Bandipora forests and a fierce gunfight ensued. One terrorist was killed in the encounter and another from the same LeT group was still firing on the security forces.
In a related incident Jammu and Kashmir police along with 22RR and 92 BN of CRPF on Tuesday apprehended one terrorist associate Ashiq Hussain Wani a resident of Tujar Shareef in J-K’s Sopore, said police. One pistol along with seven live rounds and one magazine was recovered from his possession, said police.
This comes after 12 people including one woman were injured in a grenade attack at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and weekly market in Srinagar on Sunday.

Srinagar Police have slapped UAPA on those involved in the attack.
“The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. Today’s news of a grenade attack on innocent shoppers at the ‘Sunday market’ in Srinagar is deeply disturbing. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians," the CM said in a post on X.
On Nov 2 two terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Anantnag district. The encounter started after security forces launched an anti-terrorist operation in Halkan Gali area.
