The country witnessed national mourning following the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe after which the national flag was flown at half-mast at the Red Fort, Rashtrapati Bhavan. Shinzo Abe was killed by a man yesterday, July 8.
In his message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today is a day of irreparable loss and unbearable pain for me. My close friend and former Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Shinzo Abe is no more with us. Abe ji was not only my friend but he was equally reliable friend of India.
A political era has come to an end in Japan with the death of Shinzo Abe. According to reports, as soon as Abe started speaking in Nara town at 11:30 am, the attacker fired two shots at him. Police said that one bullet hit his throat and the other in his chest. Hidetada Fukushima, professor of emergency medicine at Nara Medical University Hospital, said at a press briefing, “Shinzo Abe was taken to the hospital at 12:20 pm local time and upon being brought to the hospital it was found that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. According to the information, the former PM had suffered a heart attack even before he was brought to the hospital.
