National Herald's office sealed by ED, increased security at Sonia Gandhi's residence

Taking major action in the National Herald case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sealed its office. Along with this, the ED has directed that the premises should not be opened without the permission of the agency. The ED has put a notice on the National Herald's office not to open the office without prior permission. Since then the security of AICC headquarters has been increased. Along with this, the security of 10 Janpath i.e. Congress President Sonia Gandhi's residence has also been increased. The ED had searched this office on Tuesday, after which it has been sealed. The ED team had raided here in order to search the documents here.
ED yesterday raided 12 locations in Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata in connection with the National Herald case. Top Congress leaders are accused of violating rules in the National Herald case. ED officials said that raids were conducted under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act to gather additional information related to money transactions. The raids were carried out mainly on units that have been involved in transactions linked to the National Herald. This action has been taken on the basis of new evidence that has emerged from the recent interrogation of several people in the case.
In the National Herald case, the ED has questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former President Rahul Gandhi for several rounds. The Congress had lodged a strong protest regarding this.
