Muzammil Ibrahim Reveals Two-Year Relationship with Deepika Padukone: Rainy Rickshaw Rides and Fond Memories

Actor-model Muzammil Ibrahim recently spoke about his former relationship with fellow actor, Deepika Padukone. He talked about how the two were a couple for two years in the early stage of how they both got into the entertainment industry.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil confessed how him and Deepika were dating in the early 2000s, when they were still trying to get both established in modeling.

"We were in a relationship for two years," Muzammil said, adding that he was the first guy Deepika met after she moved to Mumbai. “She was very confident because she is Prakash Padukone’s daughter, so everyone knew about her,” he said.Muzammil decribed the years as simple and memorable. He talked about how they were poor and went on rickshaw dates especially when it rained in the monsoon.

“We were kids then. We would go on dates in a rickshaw in the rains. That was very cute. I had more money than her because I had started earning better. Then I bought a car and she was very happy about that. These things are very memorable because I have not been on a date in a rickshaw since then, and we were so happy even though we had no money,” he said fondly.

He also talked about a birthday memory that he had with Deepika. “Even with no money, the DJ would play the song that she liked because I was friends with the DJ. For an hour and a half, he just played that song because it was her birthday,” he shared.

Muzammil shared that it was in fact, Deepika that asked him out on a date. Eventually he said he was the one that ended the relationship. He said he admires her massive success today. “I was a star at that time, she was not. She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her, nobody knows me. I am a big fan. I love watching her movies. She is a beautiful woman. She is doing so great, but the fact is what it is,” he said.

Muzammil was asked if they talk anymore, and he shared that they haven't talked since she married Ranveer Singh. “Before she got married, we would talk sometimes,” he said, and they became friendly after their break-up, he said they use to congratulate each other on their successes every now and then.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh married in 2019, and the pair gave birth to their daughter Dua, in 2024.
