MS Dhoni Features in ICC Champions Trophy Promo: Close to three weeks before the beginning of the ICC Champions Trophy, former Indian lift captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen once again by fans, assisting Star Sports in a promotional activity for the crucial upcoming tournament.
A promotional ad based on his Captain Cool persona showcased Dhoni lounging in an icy atmosphere.
In the ad, Dhoni says: “When I was the captain, remaining cool was easy. But becoming a fan and watching the ICC Champions Trophy? No.”

Captaining India in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England, Dhoni was credited with some fine and innovative captaincy for India to win this particular tournament and narrowly win in the finals.
India was crushed in the finals of the tournament in 2017 but would like to make amends as the tourney comes back after a gap. However, Dhoni pointed out that this is the kind of tournament where you cannot even afford one mistake.
‘Every match is a do or die…’
“Even though our team is strong, even if we lose one match here, we are as good as eliminated,” says Dhoni in the ad, Dhoni sits with sheets of snow blown onto him from a hose.

“The tension has raised the temperature so much. Every match is a do or die,” concludes the captain, a humorous acknowledgment of his history with referrals when he calls for a DRS review only for a truck with Dhoni Refrigeration System on its side to appear and bury him with snow.
Regardless of the hilarity attached to this ad, the pressure will be on the Indian team to deliver in the UAE, especially after all the hullabaloo that surrounded changing the venue from its original plan to host the tournament entirely in Pakistan.
With captain Rohit Sharma under plenty of pressure and another player in similar conditions, this will be a chance for both to prove they still belong in the top level of the sport as they hallmark their way on the best platform for the two.
India's campaign opens with a match against Bangladesh, following which they face England in a three-match preparatory series.
