Moradabad city of Uttar Pradesh has been placed second in the world in terms of noise pollution. A new report by the United Nations Environment Program – which makes interesting disclosures on noise pollution globally, has ranked Moradabad as the second most noisy city in the world.

Dhaka of Bangladesh has been ranked first. On the other hand, Islamabad of Pakistan has been placed in the third place. While the monarchy of Bangladesh is ranked fourth, that is, the first four cities with the most noise overall, are from South Asian countries. Other Indian cities that have been included in this list include Delhi, Kolkata, Asansol in Bengal and Jaipur.
As per WHO directives, the report states that based on the prescribed parameters, the noise limit is 55 dB (decibel) LEC for outdoor residential areas and 70 dB LEC for commercial areas, including areas where traffic is not allowed.
According to the report, the noise level has been found to be 83 dB in Delhi, 89 dB in Kolkata and Asansol and 84 dB in Jaipur. Three of the top 15 most noise polluted cities in the world are in India.
