MI vs KKR Live Score, IPL 2025: This season, when home advantage is quite a hot topic, the struggling Mumbai Indians would like to get their first win of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium in their opener of the campaign against the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders today (March 31).
Last season's trend continues to effect MI, and they began this early campaign with two losses, having lost to Gujarat Titans on Friday.

With an 0-2 start for the season, the Mumbai Indians have a long history of starting slowly, and they would do well to regroup before it gets to disastrous levels in the tournament. Adding to their woes is captain Hardik Pandya being fined Rs 12 lakhs for slow over rate against Titans since his first match is already suspended for the same offence in IPL 2024. He has to be extra careful from now.
Leaving alone the injury of world's No. 1 fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah adds to MI's woes. Further, it seems like the performance of Rohit Sharma, the former captain, continues to disappoint; it has been below expectations where in six of his last nine IPL innings he has scored in single digits. In Friday's game, he recorded his second consecutive low score, making just eight runs and suffering yet another dismissal due to a remarkable inswinger from Mohammed Siraj.
On the flip side, KKR will boost their line-up with the return of its star spinner and explosive opener Sunil Narine, who missed the last match due to illness.
Narine was seen training with the team at Wankhede Stadium on Friday, which bodes well for the visitors. Also, under head coach Chandrakant Pandit and captain Ajinkya Rahane, KKR knows Mumbai well.
Of course, KKR wants to stretch that momentum as they head straight after an eight-wicket success over Rajasthan Royals, with Quinton de Kock blazing through 97 not out. Some pitch fight controversy still brews over Eden Gardens, but they are only thinking about the match ahead.
Today, Wankhede Stadium opens its gates to the highly anticipated first match of IPL 2025. Last season, of the seven games played here, four were clinched by teams batting first; the average first innings score was 188 in IPL 2024 while the highest score (MI vs DC) was 234. While a good pitch is expected, the team winning the toss may choose to bowl first.
