The blaze broke out around 2:30 a.m. during a concert by a local pop group at Club Pulse, Interior Minister Panche Toshkovski told reporters. He said 39 of the dead had so far been identified.
Following an initial assessment, He said pyrotechnics likely caused the roof to catch fire. Videos showed chaos inside the club, with young people running through the smoke as the musicians urged people to escape as quickly as possible.

As relatives gathered outside hospitals to await news, Kocani resident Dragi Stojanov was informed that his 21-year-old son Tomce had died in the fire.
“He was my only child. I don't need my life anymore,” he said. “One hundred and fifty families have been devastated.”
The report continued, "The number of victims is still unknown, with 20, 50 and up to 100 victims mentioned. Fire crews from all surrounding towns, as well as vehicles and medical teams, arrived to extinguish the fire and rescue the young people. It is assumed that this terrible tragedy, which has not been recorded in the history of Kocani, occurred due to the lighting effects in the disco during a concert by the group DNA," reports the Mirror.

Dramatic footage from the incident captures fire crews making their way into the building as the flames were brought under control. Onlookers from the local community surrounded the nightclub, visibly stunned by the unfolding events.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, though local media speculates that it may have been triggered by pyrotechnic devices used during the concert. The nightclub was still burning hours later, raising concerns about structural damage and the risk of further casualties.
Videos shared on social media capture the nightclub consumed by flames, with thick smoke rising into the sky.
