Manipur C M Offers Post of Additional S P (Sports) to Mirabai Chanu

New Delhi: Olympic silver medal winner Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu welcomed with loud cheers and chants of BHARAT MATA KI JAY, as she landed at Delhi Airport on Monday evening.

Mirabai thanked her well-wishers and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his all-out support during the training and preparations for Tokyo Olympics.

Mirabai was Offered the post of Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in Manipur. The Chief Minister of Manipur Mr. N Biren Singh announced today.

Mr. Biren Singh also announced that a cash award of rupees one crore will be given to Mirabai. Mirabai is an employee of Indian Railways. She holds the post of Officer on Special Duty (Sports) in the North-East Frontier Railway.

Judoka and room partner of Mirabai in Olympic Village, Likmabam Sushila Devi will be promoted from the post of constable to sub-inspector. She will be rewarded with rupees 25 lakh for her participation in the Tokyo Olympics.
