Make Bharat Bandh a complete success: Sukhbir Singh Badal

Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has urged the people of Punjab to extend their full support to the farmers’ call to stage a Bharat Bandh on December 8 and make it a complete success.

Badal, who is a Member Parliament from Ferozepur took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Shiromani Akali Dal urges Punjabis to extend support to the December 8 #BharatBandh call given by Kisan organisations.”

The former Dy CM Punjab further said, “Our workers will also work wholeheartedly to make this bandh a complete success and ensure the repeal of the anti-farmer agricultural laws.”

The SAD was BJP allies and part of the NDA government at the Centre but they snapped ties on the issues of farm laws.

The SAD too believes that the farm laws are anti-farmers and it will cater to the interest of the big corporate houses.

Badal’s wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, former Union Minister for Food Processing had said earlier that the government was not bothering the farmers’ agitation.

Harsimrat, who is at present a Member of Parliament from Bathinda, tweeted, “What is it that GoI finds so difficult to understand on #farmers issue?”

She alleged that the government representatives are living in cozy homes and they seem to be in no hurry for a solution.

“Farmers have to brave biting cold hundreds of miles away from homes. GoI exploiting their plight. Painful!,” she said.

Meanwhile SAD has also got backing from the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who has announced his support to the farmers' agitation.
