Madhya Pradesh News : BJP MLA in Madhya Pradesh accuses his own party of misusing government machinery
Narayan Tripathi won Maihar in 2003 as a Samajwadi Party candidate, in 2013 as a Congress candidate, in 2016 by-elections as a BJP candidate and again in 2018 on a BJP ticket.
In Madhya Pradesh, a BJP MLA has made serious allegations against his own party regarding the local body elections. He has said that the party uses the entire government machinery for its own benefit. This allegation can become a cause of embarrassment for the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government, which came to power in 2020. Narayan Tripathi, a four-time MLA from Maihar (Satna), said, "I am not against the BJP, but what is happening really hurts me."
BJP MLA Narayan Tripathi said, "I have been visiting this area (Maihar). I see that officials from Patwari to the top keep campaigning for a particular party. These officers are working to get votes for BJP. I am a BJP MLA but when I see such incidents I get upset. Today in this country the government can be toppled in 2 minutes, the same is happening in the local body elections. It should not happen."
Responding to Narayan Tripathi's allegations, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh said, "There is someone in the BJP who dared to speak the truth. Congratulations and thank you Narayan Tripathi ji, you have relieved the pain of thousands of contestants." Democracy has been openly throttled by the presiding officers."
He was among the two BJP MLAs who voted along with legislators of the then ruling Congress on a bill in the Assembly in July 2019. It is yet to be seen whether Tripathi contests the 2023 assembly elections on the ticket of which party- BJP, Congress or any other party.
