Lilly Singh graces Vogue India’s April Cover, opens up about "South-Asian" Representation in the Entertainment Industry
The Talented Artist has recently been featured on the cover of Vogue India, and just like always, Lily is the head of the table on her latest cover.
Lilly Singh needs no introduction today. Calling her merely a YouTuber would be disregarding her major achievements. Apart from being a massive YouTube Creator, Singh is an Actor, a Rapper, an Author, a TV Show Host and so much more. She hustles hard, fights back, and rejects all labels. The Talented Artist has recently been featured on the cover of Vogue India, and just like always, Lily is the head of the table on her latest cover.
Devoured in an all-Gucci ensemble, the untamed Singh dons a Crepe Pink Pant Suit, from the Gucci Love Parade Collection. She wears a Black-Shirt, with white collars, and adds an extra edge to the entire outfit by adding a White-Waistcoat. She keeps her makeup raw, her hair open, and holds a white vase in her hands. The Flowers in the vase appear dull, while the cover states “In Full Bloom”, defining a contrast, and is open to umpteen interpretations. One might wonder if she is channeling the bloom from all the floras and channeling them inside her.
Lilly’s style has never been about fitting in, and in the current shoot with Vogue, she accentuates that even further. She claims the whimsical in all her pictures. In one of her looks, she wears a multi-colored knit over a Balck Mirrored Top. In another picture of hers, Singh is a part coat, part dress, giving Whimsical Aesthetic a new Fashion Montage altogether.
In the interview with Vogue, Singh said, “I saw Dilwale Dulhaniy Le Jayenge(1995) thrice on the big screen, and growing up, my walls were plastered with posters of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Madhuri Dixit. I also had a huge pile of Stardust magazines to keep abreast of Hindi cinema.” The Indian-Canadian Sensation is currently promoting her new book, “Be a Triangle.” Lilly Singh has been a pioneer of South Asian Representation in the entertainment industry, where people of color weren’t the mainstream, and she’s doing this with sass.
