A group of teachers and students from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad and Bangalore have written an open letter to Prime Minister Modi.In this letter, the issue of hate speech and speech given against minorities in Haridwar has been raised.

The letter read, Honorable Prime Minister, your silence on the growing intolerance in our country is disappointing for all of us who value the multicultural fabric of our country. Honorable Prime Minister, your silence encourages voices full of hatred and is a threat to the unity and integrity of our country.
The letter further read, "Our Constitution gives us the right to practice our religion with respect - without fear, without shame. But now in our country there is fear about it - places of worship including churches in recent times." But sabotage is being done and a call has been given to take up arms against our Muslim brothers and sisters. All this is being done without any fear.”
