Kuberaa Box Office Day 1: Dhanush Nets ₹13 Cr India; Global Opening Hits ₹27 Cr

Kuberaa Box Office Day 1: The highly-anticipated film 'Kuberaa' featuring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandanna finally released on Friday (October 20) and has had a solid start. The economic estimates from Sacnilk.com show that the pan-India film grossed Rs 13 crore on its opening day.

While the critical response was good and especially Dhanush's remarkable performance was noted, the collection on Day 1 was lower than Dhanush's last theatrical release 'Raayan' which had collected Rs 15.7 crore. However, occupancy figures are telling a different story, as footfalls and demand seem to be increasing - Kuberaa posted an overall Telugu occupancy of 57.36 per cent earning the audience 13 crores. The breakdown shows the morning shows at 38.94 per cent and the evening shows at 57.04 per cent!

The charts are looking good as the film is set to grow over the weekend and positive word-of-mouth should carry this film forward. The Hindi market may limit the height of Kuberaa's opening too. Aamir Khan's new film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' launches this week as well, opening at Rs 11.50 crore.

Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa co-stars Jim Sarbh in a key role.

Dhanush took his son Linga to see the first public screening of 'Kuberaa' at Rohini Silver Screens in Chennai and the exuberant crowd and reception had Dhanush visibly moved.

Before getting the greenlight, the film passed through the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a UA rating. Interestingly, they had 19 cuts, which resulted in a total of 13 minutes 41 seconds cut from the completion time.

With the stage set and anticipation mounting, sole focus is now set on how 'Kuberaa' performs through the upcoming weekend.
