Kind heart, Fierce Mind, Brave Spirit: Kiran Bedi’s first tweet since she was removed as Pondi LG
President Ram Nath Kovind removed Kiran Bedi from the post of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on February 16 evening.
Ex-IPS officer Kiran Bedi’s first tweet on Wednesday morning, a day after she was removed as Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, reflects her feelings.
She has posted a message “from the cover of a diary” on her table which reads, “Kind Heart, Fierce Mind, Brave Spirit.”
These words mirror Bedi’s own personality too as she has always shown these qualities in public and well as in personal life.
Just a day before, President Ram Nath Kovind removed her as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, a union territory on the southeast coast of India with Tamil Nadu as its bordering state.
Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman Ajay Kumar Singh issued a brief communiqué on February 16 evening which said that President Kovind has directed that Bedi "shall cease to hold the office of the Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry".
Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been given an additional charge "with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office, until regular arrangements for the office of Lieutenant-Governor of Puducherry are made".
Bedi’s removal is coincidental with the political turmoil the UT has plunged into. The Congress government headed by Chief Minister V Narayanasamy has allegedly come into the minority after four MLAs of his party have resigned from the state assembly recently.
One MLA resigned on Tuesday which brought down the Congress tally in the 33-member assembly to 10. DMK is Congress Party's ally in the state and it has three members. Narayanasamy also enjoys the support of one independent MLA.
The UT will go to polls between April and May and the massive political shake-up will impact the forthcoming elections, the date of which is yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India.
