Karnataka Businessman Missing: Mangaluru police have launched a search operation for businessman Mumthaz Ali who went missing on Sunday morning. His BMW car was found abandoned at a bridge. The car is damaged.
Mumthaz Ali is the brother of Janata Dal (Secular) MLC BM Farooq and former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava.
Ali left his home in his car at 3 am on Sunday and stopped at Kulur bridge at 5 am. His BMW car was found there damaged, says Mangaluru commissioner of police Anupam Agarwal.
SDRF and Coast Guard have been deployed to search the river to see if Ali jumped from the bridge.

“Early this morning, we received information that businessman Mumthaz Ali's vehicle was found near Kulur bridge. He might have jumped from the bridge. Local police reached the spot and initiated the investigation,” Anupam Agrawal said.
“As per the preliminary investigation, he left his house in his car around 3 am, drove around the city, and at around 5 am stopped his car near the Kulur bridge.”
Agarwal said the car had accidental marks on it too. He also said it was Ali’s daughter who had informed the police about his disappearance in the early hours of Sunday. Police are still investigating and will update later.

"Today early morning we received information that a businessman Mumthaz Ali's vehicle was found near Kulur bridge. He might have jumped from the bridge. Local police reached the spot and started the investigation," Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal sal quoted by new agency ANI.
"As per the preliminary investigation, around 3 o'clock, he left the house in his car and roamed around the city and around 5 o'clock he stopped his car near the Kulur bridge. The car had certain accidental marks and then after that, his daughter informed the local police. Investigation is underway. SDRF and Coast Guard teams are searching the river and trying to find out whether he has jumped in the river or anybody is there or not..." he added.
A big crowd has gathered at Kulur bridge as the search operation in the river has begun for the 52-year-old businessman, says TOI.
