Kanpur: 6 deaths due to A Drunken Driver, Was Driving Tractor Returning From Son's Mundan Ceremony
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath met with those injured in the Kanpur tractor-trolley incident where 26 people died.
26 people died in a tractor-trolley accident in Kanpur on Saturday night. Of these, 13 are women and 13 are children. Due to the tragic accident, the tractor-trolley had fallen into the pond, while 45 people were in it. As per the local sources, these people were returning to Kanpur from Unnao's Chandrika Devi temple after Mundan rites. All the members were residents of the Kortha village.
It was found that the tractor driver was drunk and even though the people forced him not to drive, he did not listen. The Mundan ceremony was for the driver's son. The driver survived the accident and as of now is absconding.
On the matter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote, "Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers with the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected."
Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanth visited the village and expressed his condolences. He reached Kortha village in the Ghatampur area and met the families of those who died in the accident. He said, "I am very sad, your loss cannot be compensated. It's a tragedy seeing thirteen children being cremated, and thirteen piers.
