India's strength strengthened on LAC, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched 75 projects
According to the Defense Ministry, these projects are spread over six states and two union territories. Of these, 20 are in Jammu and Kashmir, 18 in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, 5 in Uttarakhand and 14 in other border states of Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh dedicated 75 BRO infrastructure projects spread across six states and two union territories to the nation at a function organized during his visit to Ladakh on Friday. These include 45 bridges, 27 roads, two helipads and a carbon neutral habitat. Of these, 20 projects have been built in the Jammu and Kashmir division.
At the same time, 18-18 are in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, five in Uttarakhand and 14 other border states are in Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan. The strategically important projects have been constructed by BRO at a total cost of Rs 2180 crore in record time.
According to the Defense Ministry, these projects are spread over six states and two union territories. Of these, 20 are in Jammu and Kashmir, 18 in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, 5 in Uttarakhand and 14 in other border states of Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Rajasthan.
Along with this, a carbon neutral habitat built at an altitude of 19,000 feet was inaugurated. This is the effort of BRO in its resolve to become the first carbon neutral union territory of the country. The major features of this complex include accommodation of 57 personnel and thermal comfort during extreme weather. This will enable the BRO to operate efficiently during the major part of winter.
The Defense Minister said that the projects will boost the country's defense preparedness and ensure economic development of the border areas. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of 120 meters long Class 70 Shyok Setu on the D-S-DBO road at an altitude of 14,000 feet. The bridge is strategically important. Two helipads have also been built at Hanle and Thakung in eastern Ladakh. These helipads will enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Air Force in the region.
