Indian Premier League 2022 : Dhoni handled CSK's faltering innings, scored 50 runs to reach 131 runs

The first match of IPL is being played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first. The one who bowls first at Wankhede remains in the advantage and the same trend continues even today. Chennai scored 131 runs in 20 overs.

KKR have scored 8 runs for two overs without losing a wicket. The batting of the team was very slow. The team could not even score 100 runs till 18 overs. Eventually Mahendra Singh Dhoni took over the innings of CSK. Playing an innings of 50 runs took the team to a decent score.

Captaincy debut was not special for Ravindra Jadeja. Half of Sir Jadeja's team returned to the pavilion after scoring only 61 runs.

In 2008, when Dhoni played his first IPL match, he won the toss. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja lost his first toss as captain.Chennai's top order flopped badly in the very first match. Rituraj Gaikwad (0), Ambati Rayudu (15), Robin Uthappa (28), Devon Conway (3) were out for runs.
