In a letter to the Prime Minister, Gehlot asks for his help in ensuring a sufficient supply of vaccines.
“At the moment, our daily immunization is restricted to the supply provided by the central government. Since the beginning of the vaccination drive for 18 years plus, the daily average of vaccine doses received has been 3 to 4 lakhs only”
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting that he ‘intervene personally' to ensure that the state receives appropriate supplies of Covid-19 vaccinations.
While Rajasthan has built a capacity to vaccinate more than 15 lakh people per day, Gehlot wrote to the Prime Minister on June 26 stating the state's daily immunization is limited to the number of supplies received from the federal government.
In the letter, the CM further stated that over 2.36 crore people have been vaccinated in Rajasthan too far and that the state has achieved negative (less than 0 percent ) wastage.
“As a result of our efforts, we had one of the greatest rates of people getting vaccinated early. As a result, by the end of July 2021, more than 70 lakh patients will be due for their second dose,” the letter stated.
To avoid the occurrence of the third wave, Gehlot stressed the importance of ensuring 100% vaccination.
“Importance of ensuring 100% vaccination at the earliest to prevent the third wave of Covid, and also to ensure that people are able to resume the activities related to their livelihood, cannot be over stressed. Therefore, I urge you to intervene personally and direct the concerned to ensure adequate supply of vaccines for the state,” CM said in the letter
