IMD Reports Severe Heatwave, Heavy Rainfall Over Multiple States
Another report from IMD (The Indian Meteorological Department) says that there are chances of severe heatwaves in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar.
IMD Reports Severe Heatwave, Heavy Rainfall Over Multiple States
IMD Reports: This year the weather in India is not constant, it is sometimes severe heatwaves or heavy rainfall, and the weather pattern keeps on changing from time to time.
Another report from IMD (The Indian Meteorological Department) says that there are chances of severe heatwaves in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, also chances of rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and southern Karnataka.
IMD said, “Severe heatwave conditions are very likely in some parts of west Rajasthan during 17-20 May and in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi during 18-20 May.” The weather agency also said temperatures had hit as high as 45 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country in May.
Earlier, IMD issued a report of a thunderstorm that was likely to hit Mumbai, which came out to be true causing severe damage to the property and even leading to cause behind the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse incident.

Dr Naresh Kumar, the Senior scientist of IMD told ANI, “From April till the last few days, continuous western disturbances were influencing Northwest India, due to which parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand experienced isolated rainfall. Due to this, the temperatures were not very high. In May, the temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius in many places. Even today, the temperature has already reached 45 degrees Celsius in Rajasthan."
He said that in Punjab and Haryana, the temperature was also around 44 degrees Celsius, stating that he added, “A heatwave is likely in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh for the next 5 days and in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar for 4 days, after which there may be mild thunderstorms, due to which the temperature may drop slightly.”
He stated, "Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and South Karnataka in the next 5 days..."
The weather service also said that there will be a period of wet weather with some heavy to very heavy rain that will last over south Peninsular India.
