Talking to the reports, E Sreedharan expressed his desire to discontinue his role from active politics as he believes that he is too old now to run around.
E Sreedharan, the man who revolutionised the public transport system in Delhi by introducing Metro, has said that he is no more interested in pursuing his interest in politics now.
Sreedhara is also known as Metro Man for his outstanding work and contribution. Before the assembly elections in Kerala, Bhartiya Janata Party had chosen him as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the state, however, the move turned out to be unsuccessful as it didn’t get a single seat in the election.
Sreedhara, who has turned 90 now, had contested the assembly election from Palakkad constituency but a lot to a Congress candidate. Talking to the reports, he expressed his desire to discontinue his role from active politics as he believes that he is too old now to run around.
He said that he has not given up but he is at an advanced stage of life and at the age of 90, it is not possible for him to play an active role in politics. Sreedhara was a bureaucrat who served the people at various positions and postings.
I was never a politician. I joined politics as a bureaucrat. I am serving people through three trusts, even beyond politics", he said.
He added, “I have no disappointment now when I look back because as the only MLA I could not have done anything. Without power in the state, one MLA cannot do anything", he said.
Though he is happy to be actively helping people and society in other ways and he also believes that politics is not the only way he can help people.
