Did you know that Amitabh Bachchan got his role of Jai in the film Sholay because of his good dance performance on a bus in the film Bombay To Goa? This was revealed by Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), director Ramesh Sippy during one of the episodes of the TV quiz show.

When Amitabh Bachchan asked Ramesh Sippy why he chose him for the role of Jai, Sippy added that Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar who are the Sholay writers told him to choose him for this Amitabh Bachchan Sholay Jai role.

Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar said that Big B showed an excellent performance in the film Zanjeer and they added although he was tall he performed an amazing dance performance on the bus in the film Bombay To Goa.

Sholay writers chose Amitabh Jai role Sholay because of his dance performance in his previous film. Amitabh Bachchan Sholay casting was also based on his past performance in the film Zanjeer.

Viewers consider the film Sholay as one of the greatest classic films in Bollywood. The film also features Ranjeev Kumar, Dharmendra, Amjad Khan, Hema Malini and others in main roles.
