Haryana Travel Blogger Jyoti Malhotra Arrested for Espionage Linked to Pakistani Intelligence

Among the eight arrested individuals, the latest incident involved a woman travel blogger from Hisar and was the third arrest carried out in Haryana this week, following the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan.

According to the reports, Jyoti Malhotra, a resident of Hisar and a travel blogger, was arrested after she allegedly confessed to having passed some sensitive information to Pakistani operatives. She is under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act. The police have asked the magistrate for five days in remand.

Hisar police official Vikas Kumar, while confirming the arrest, stated that she is under police custody and is being questioned further for more details.

An FIR was registered at the Hisar Civil Lines police station based on a complaint lodged by SI Sanjay. The FIR states that the blogger had gone to the Pakistan High Commission, Delhi, in 2023, where she met Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an employee of the Pakistan High Commission (PHC) in New Delhi.

The women blogger had been to Pakistan twice in 2023. The platform that she ran on YouTube was called “Travel with Jo.” She was also part of a network that extended across Haryana and Punjab, with principal operatives acting as agents, financier conduits, and informers.

Danish, who was declared persona non grata by the Indian Government and expelled on May 13, 2025, is alleged to have introduced Jyoti to several Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs).

The suspect was purportedly sharing sensitive information on Indian locations. She also was used to portray a positive image of Pakistan on social media.

The couple also seem to have developed intimacy, with the PIO travelling to Bali in Indonesia with her. It has strengthened the suspicions that during Danish's stay in Delhi, she was still in contact with him.
