Ex Diplomats writes an open letter citing "Hate Speech Condemnation should not be selectively done"
A few weeks back, certain videos started doing rounds all across social media where “Dharam Sansad” in Haridwar saw a series of hate speeches targeting Muslims.
A few weeks back, certain videos started doing rounds all across social media where “Dharam Sansad” in Haridwar saw a series of hate speeches targeting Muslims. In regards to that, a group of 32 former Indian diplomats, which also includes former foreign secretary Kanwal Sibal, stated that “condemnation of hate speech must be universal, and not selective”.
The former diplomats in an open letter mentioned that, “All calls for violence must be unequivocally condemned regardless of their religious, ethnic, ideological or regional origin. Double standards and selectivity in condemnation raises questions about motives and morality.”
