Eighteen Killed and 25 Injured In Road accident in UP’s Barabanki
PM condoles loss of lives and announces ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for victims' kin from Prime Minister Relief Fund
New Delhi: At least 18 people were killed and 25 injured in a road accident on Tuesday night in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki. This accident took place when a truck hit a double-decker bus. According to the Additional Director General of Police, Lucknow Zone, S N Sabat, “The injured were rushed to the hospital with the help of locals. It was raining heavily when the accident took place and this posed some problems in the rescue operation”.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in a road accident in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister Modi has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to be given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives and Rs. 50,000 to those injured from Prime Minister Relief Fund.
The Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the accident and directed officials to extend all possible help to the victims.
According to the UP Police officials, at least 18 people were killed and 25 injured after a truck hit a double-decker bus. The incident took place under Kotwali Ramsanehighat area late on Tuesday night.
The private bus was on its way to Bihar from Ludhiana in Punjab. The axle of the bus broke down and it was parked on the road when a speeding truck coming from behind hit it, killing 18 people on the spot and injuring 25 others. Some passengers were standing outside the bus while others were sitting inside at the time of the incident.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Deeply saddened by the news of road accident in Barabanki, UP. My condolences to the bereaved families. I have also spoken to CM Yogi ji. Arrangements are being made for proper treatment of all the injured comrades”.
A PMO tweet said, “PM @narendramodi announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Barabanki. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each”.
